Doodle Friday

I don't know about the rest of you, but I simply adore reading. I can get lost in a book for hours... days even. I always hesitate when taking on a new book because I tend to put everything aside and lose myself in those musty scented ivory pages of simple fonts and glorious adventures. If you get MAKE the opportunity to read the book Lamb by Christopher Moore. He is by far my new favorite author (thanks mom!) and this particular book has knocked my other favorites right off the list and into my neighbors garbage can. I have never laughed so hard and cried so good in my life. For those of you who know, I have a soft spot for sarcasm and think that without giving out a daily dose (or twelve) I'd probably go bonkers. Moore's writing style is BRILLIANTLY sarcastic and loaded tinged with a humorous perversion of epic proportions, in the best sense that is. He's the kind of uncle I never really wanted but desperately want to meet. I should like to buy this man a beer and/or a grilled cheese sandwich. He seems like the kind of guy who appreciates fine grilled cheese.

I realize this post is titled "Doodle Friday" and I'm getting there. I may have gone off on a tangent about my love of BOOKS, but my love of reading goes beyond that... to BLOGS. Since I've started mine I've been following a few others. Reading, laughing, and learning lessons on how others have been putting there's together. I try to take away things from blogs I find interesting in order to better improve mine. The one thing I found myself looking forward to on other sites was their "weekly special" post about something...

It has been a little more difficult to keep up with the task of writing about and PRODUCING art than I had originally planned. Life is crazy busy! So while I may not be able to create awe-inspiring art on a daily basis, I can sure whip up a humorous doodle in a small amount of time one day a week. So that's the plan! Pick a topic/subject/piece of fruit and give you a deliciously spicey doodle on Fridays!

So here you go my little Simpletons! Yes, you have a nickname now :-) For your first Doodle Friday:

BIRD. NERD.

Intoxicartification

Art...deliciously devious and intoxicating art...

New word alert!

in·tox·i·cart·if·i·ca·tion
n.
1. Stupefaction or excitement by the act of studying a glorious work of art.
2. Exhilaration, excitement, or euphoria brought on by overload of optical ingestion of the creative.
3. Poisoning by a painting, drawing, sculpture, etc. that infects the senses and causes intense cravings for art.

Kailee invented, mother approved.

More often than not, I get so unbelievably hung up on the IDEA for a potential art project that its all I can think of. I struggle with it mentally, physically and emotionally until I decide to do something about it. I often work out an entire painting in my head from start to finish before I sit down to sketch it... occasionally I'll lose steam and it never comes to fruition, IF however that does NOT happen, I like to plan every detail, every color, and every step I'm going to do them in... well that last step usually gets ignored but I'm working on it... sort of.

While I have been a slacking peon of the blog-o-sphere world and my beloved art projects, I like to think I have a pretty good excuse... Its birthday month! July takes up a lot of mental energy and time between having mine and my brothers birthdays in a 15 day time span (we're all 5 days apart) and having mine smack dab in the middle (the 14th!) makes the first half of the month fly by with anticipation of my special day and it makes the second half fly by with celebration. Before I know it, its August and I can't name a single thing I've accomplished in July, besides crossing off yet another alcoholic liquid I'll never drink again... *cough* Black Velvet *cough*... [bows head in shame] don't ask.

July just makes it hard to focus on my work... it's just too darn hot to have any creative ambition. Plus, with my yard constantly calling out for a makeover, the laundry shouting "wash me!" and the desperate squeals from my dirty dishes for some hot soapy suds... it makes it really hard to focus. Not to mention, my cat is really annoying.

BUT, since the month is winding down and my unannounced break is almost over, I have a few new things in store for August!

1. An active effort to do more blog posts!... oh and umm art...
2. An uber special weekly post! SO awesome, it'll rock yo' socks 3 ways to Sunday!
3. More cowbell!

See, there's ALWAYS something to look forward to...

Cheerio!
